“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset.
Wanting to know what might be happening, I dutifully turned on the TV, where I saw the gunman identified as one “Chris Harper Mercer.” Googling that name I found an article titled “Chris Harper Mercer: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know“:
Here’s what we know so far about him and the shooting:
1. He Was Armed With 4 Guns & Was Killed After a Shootout With Police
2. He Asked Students to State Their Religion & Then Started Firing
3. He Says on a Dating Profile That He ‘Doesn’t Like Organized Religion’ & Is a ‘Conservative, Republican’
4. He Posted on His Blog About Virginia Shooter Vester Flanagan & Said He Doesn’t Agree With Black Lives Matter Protests
5. A 4Chan User & Avid YouTube Poster Was Misidentified as the Suspect
WTF?
You would almost think that whoever is in charge was running a sort of randomized cultural eggbeater to come up with some of these people.
Except no one is in charge.
They come up by themselves.

Mercer had a MySpace account with two friends listed as contacts. One was Mahmoud Ali Ehsani, with a set of pictures on his page of various Mujahideen fighters and other terrorist like pics, all armed and faces concealed.

there is a first amendendment right to own a gun there is no first amendendment right to sell someone a gun and the sell should be prosecuted like a bar that sales drinks called a dramshot law.
I wish I had the answers as to what caused this, but I don’t. We are the sum of our experiences, but there’s more.
Our brains are physical things and I think some very small number of people have defective brains that cause them to think or understand the world differently as compared to the masses. Outwardly they appear normal, but inside their heads are thoughts that we can’t begin to have because our brains aren’t like theirs.
Is it bad experiences alone that can lead to this type of action, or is a defect in a part of the brain the explanation here? Or is it combination of the two in some manner? Maybe one day we will have enough understanding of ourselves to explain these types of things and to be able diagnose people with abnormal brains, if that is a factor in these things.
Condolences to those who lost loved ones due to this maniac’s rampage. Hoping for speedy recoveries for the survivors.
