The latest “interesting concept” in a long, long line of interesting concepts for fusion reactor design.

Don’t hold your breath or divert support from fission reactors until someone makes a prototype that actually fuses deuterium nuclei at energy breakeven.

Fusion requires extremely high energies to overcome nuclei repulsion. No small device can achieve these energies. Competent physicists know this, and that is why no one funds these crackpot ideas.

Watts Up With That has degenerated into an anti-science superstition site. Neither its authors or commentors have any credibility nowadays.

    bob,

Evidently you are not well read on the subject. It requires high energy, not extremely high energy. For beam-beam fusion drive voltages on the order of 50KV to 300KV, depending on the fuel, are sufficient.

And it is no crackpot idea. I have been studying it for about 8 or 9 years. Can it work? Yes. Will it work? Maybe.
