I love the smell of burning bird blenders in the morning. It smells like … victory (with apologies to Robert Duval). Cheers –

Wonder what happened. Most of the time something goes wrong with those, they explode via torque, not fire. Plus, I wonder why the one piece is falling towards the turbine.

I wonder how much power we can generate from burning wind turbines?

Not enough to power the nation–the area each turbine needs to operate (dictated by fluid dynamics) is such that to generate enough power to run the USA you need more surface area than the USA has. And that’s the BEST outcome–it assumes that we CAN put them everywhere. The reality is far worse; you can only put turbines in certain areas, since in order to generate wind they need relatively constant wind. It requires a relatively unique set of atmospherical and geomorphological traits. It’s suplimental power, at best.

I know there isn’t enough wind. I want to chop down the bird-butchering, bat-battering, butt ugly eyesores and burn them.

The structures don’t burn. What’s burning in the photo is the grease and oil in the turbine room itself (you can also see some of it on the blades on the other turbines in the photos). They are generally of a steel and composite construction, one not ammenable to combustion.

I’m somewhat shocked by the vitriolic hatred of them, to be honest. We all know that they’re not the saviors the Environmentalists demand we accept them as, but on the other hand I can see the logic of harnessing a form of energy that is otherwise wasted. And as for being eye sores, to each their own–there is a certain grace and elegance to them, in my opinion.

the cowling, blades, ect. are composite, should burn nicely with a bracing toxic aroma.
