I might add that Lou has all the moves of a Jewish old man in the version at the top. I used to know a lot of them when I was growing up.

Yes, CJ took it slow and sad but for me the deal is the quality of the recording. It won’t show/hear on YouTube but the entire album was recorded live into a single Ambisonics mic. Slap the CD on and you can hear the space, hear the walls, and just know that they’re in a huge space. Recordings like that just don’t happen any more.

Gotta admit I’m most partial to the Rock & Roll Animal version because of the stellar backing band.
I must also confess admiration for The Cowboy Junkies’ atmospheric version so perfectly recorded in The Trinity Session.
