The Electric Universe

I came across a comment which says

Piers Corbyn 7 July 2014:
“There is no observational evidence in the real world of real data in the real atmosphere and real ocean of their deluded claim that CO2 changes drive temperature changes.”

and went looking for the source of that comment. It is not in text form on the ‘net (probably the comment was excerpted from a video) so Google found nothing. But along the way I found something interesting.

“Neutron star” refutes its own existence. Well that piqued my interest. It in effect says “everything I know is wrong”. Wouldn’t be the first time. So I decided to watch the accompanying video of about 8 minutes duration.

Mentioned in the video:

thunderbolts.info

Hannes Alfvén

Not mentioned in the video but something I have come across in the study of fusion reactors: Alfvén waves.

This video – a tribute to Alfven – caught my eye.

At this site about Piers Corbyn I came across this link: High-speed solar winds increase lightning strikes on Earth

Scientists have discovered new evidence to suggest that lightning on Earth is triggered not only by cosmic rays from space, but also by energetic particles from the Sun.

University of Reading researchers found a link between increased thunderstorm activity on Earth and streams of high-energy particles accelerated by the solar wind, offering compelling evidence that particles from space help trigger lightning bolts.

And of course there is the work by Svensmark on clouds and cosmic rays.

So let me tie all this together. Changes in the solar magnetic field coupled to earth’s magnetic field affect the number of charged particles hitting the earth’s atmosphere. That affects the earth’s cloud cover and thus the amount of solar energy reaching the earth. CO2 has nothing to do with global warming. It is just the sun.

That is the hypothesis. David Evans is looking into it indirectly. Others, such as Piers Corbyn, are taking a more direct approach. We shall see if it pans out.
