Where Is The Truth?

Wretchard at Belmont Club is taking a look at the lies of ∅bama.

McCarthy’s observation is interesting because it suggests the existence of a “legend”, a term is used to describe a synthetic identity which replaces an actual biography. It is not about occasional, isolated falsehood but about a comprehensive alternative reality. But like all fictions it depends on superficial plausibility.

This vintage OSS training film describes how much attention was devoted to crafting first impressions right down to the labels on a person’s clothing. But the most important task in a crafting a legend was to create an authentic starting point, which investigators could safely be allowed to examine, since as the OSS noted that having found a surface of fact most sleuths would stop and dig no further.

Thus when dealing with a legend you would expect a thin layer of green marbles at the top and all the red marbles concealed beneath. Indeed the most convincing counterargument to the conjecture “what if it’s all true?” – is that “they wouldn’t dare” letting anyone see the red marbles found so far.

The question is not just the lies. The real question is “Where does the truth begin?” Or is it lies all the way down? And if there is no truth? Then there can be no lies.

Some thoughts on a cold, 14 F., snow on the ground, California day about the Obama administration:

    1. There is no conspiracy. That would require a maze of competent actors working diligently from a central plan or plans.

    2. They are flying by the seat of their pants. Their bible could be Jerry Rubin’s Do It!. Fast & Furious, Benghazi, the Syrian Red Line are good examples of it.

    3. Their goal is not to fix nor is it to openly destroy. It is rather to create conditions that allow the system to destruct on its own. And this applies to foreign policy as well. That way there are no fingerprints.

    4. They didn’t count on Obamacare failing so soon. As David Horowitz says it was never meant to succeed, but fail slowly. The blame would fall on greedy insurance companies and obstructionist Republicans.

    5. They figured that the apparatchik network they have filled in government agencies would continue to expand and become the de-facto legislature. In this they have succeeded.

    6. And finally, if Obamacare has trapped them (and Harry Reid’s Nuclear Option maneuver proves they are indeed trapped) then expect a no-fingerprints event to pop up in the near future to bail them out. I’m not talking false flag. They are not capable of pulling something like that off. But of this I am very sure, expect some huge event to distract and allow the consolidation of power before the next election.
