Offtopic…I wonder, sometimes, if Matt Welch still talks to Ken Layne (of “We can fact-check your ass.” fame) They were good friends early on but went very separate ways.

John gault was based on a sociopathic killer that ayn rand had the hots for! Sociopaths don’t make good role models! That is why ayn rand signed up for medicare even though she opposed it!
Libertarians believe in private charity. You know – with money they earned.
You on the other hand believe in charity based on stealing people’s money. Private charity is generally more effective because the money from an individual donor is limited and they want to put it in the most effective program.
There is no intrinsic limit to what government can steal. So why worry if the programs are effective?
Take me for instance. I am totally broke. But I have extra space where I live.
I took a friend off the street and he is staying with me until he gets back on his feet.

The government had to step in when private charities were overwelmed in the great depression and they didn’t work that well in good times. look at all the scandels we have in private charities now. It was worse back then and you know it but don’t care again mighty white of you! In 1932 the communist party got over a !,000,000 votes for president and were setting up armed communist communes in kansas where people were storing up food in their cellars in places like kansas and iowa expecting a communist revolution! Fdr and the anti-communist democrats prefered the tax payers help the starving insted of being fed by private(non taxpayer supported communist communes armed with their second amendment right thompson machine guns(they were legal back then!) Read about the bonus army and its aftermath when president hoover and macarthur despersed them!
Unfortunately, there are people who are going to abuse any system and the food stamp program is no different. I also have seen people driving late-model luxury vehicles while using SNAP benefits and feel funny while I use my own funds and drive a 12-year-old vehicle.
