Lies, damn lies, and Obamacare lies

I have been carping and kvetching about Obamacare — especially the “if you like your health insurance you can keep it” lie –for years now. But beyond complaining in blog posts, there was little I could do.

Obama and his allies lied — malevolently, in my opinion — to put this horrific piece of social engineering over, and now that people are finally learning what was in it, they are being excoriated as if Obama and company think they are uppity Kulaks:

The White House has issued a clarification. When the president said if you like your insurance plan you can keep it, what he meant was you can keep it if he likes it.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans who are getting policy cancellation notices this month can’t be as surprised as they pretend to be. President Obama made it clear at his 2010 health care summit what he thought of their taste in insurance.

“It’s the equivalent of Acme Insurance that I had for my car. . . . It’s basically not health insurance,” he explained. “It’s house insurance. . . .

“I’m buying that to protect me from some catastrophic situation; otherwise, I’m just paying out of pocket. I don’t go to the doctor. I don’t get preventive care. There are a whole bunch of things I just do without. But if I get hit by a truck, maybe I don’t go bankrupt.”

Notice his disdain for those who buy high-deductible policies to protect themselves only from unexpected and unmanageable health-care costs. They are too cheap or too dumb to reach into their own pockets for necessary care that isn’t covered by their policy or triggers the deductible.

Yeah, I noticed his disdain. The supreme condescension displayed by the President of the United States is unworthy of a fourth-rate ward heeler. He does not even pretend to feel the citizens’ pain. Instead he sneers at it.

Ditto Joel Ario, one of the original architects (from Harvard, natch) of the nightmare that has descended over this country like a blue curtain of death:

Joel Ario, who helped design the health exchanges and now works as a managing director at consultants Manatt Health Solutions in New York, said some people will pay more because the law requires that plans meet certain criteria, such as covering maternity and mental-health services. Many individually insured people had foregone such provisions in favor of lower premiums or deductibles. Now, higher premiums paid by younger, healthier people will help the uninsured afford coverage.

Individually insured people “are a transient population affiliated with rugged individualism, entrepreneurialism, but hostile to the government taking away something,” said Mr. Ario. “But you cannot have an [economically viable] insurance pool by letting people pick and choose.”

So much for choice. I can’t decide for myself what type of insurance might work best for me, nor am I allowed to keep what worked.

Bastards.

I cannot think of a better way to inject new blood into the Tea Party. Ordinary small business owners and self employed people who may have abhorred politics and stayed out of it will now find themselves forced to fight like cornered rats.

Sorry, I’m at a loss for words.

At least Bill Maher was honest enough to admit that the president lied, because if he hadn’t lied, the damned thing would never have passed:

“…can you imagine what it would be like if he said, ‘Yeah, some people, your rates are going to go up.’ I mean the thing passed by this much. If they had said that, they might’ve lost the whole thing.”

Well doh! Maher, of course, thinks that it would have been bad had it not passed. Ironically, Maher is right about some Americans being stupider. Especially the ones who were stupid enough to believe Obama.

And if this guy’s figures are right, the new Obamacare insurance will be a lot more substandard than the old insurance the liar told us was “substandard”:

…in every case, the PPACA compliant ‘replacement plans’ offered to these clients are priced higher and in most cases much higher than what they are paying now. However, they’re not just priced higher, they expose these clients to a much higher out of pocket risk each year. Up to $12,700 for a couple and a family. Below are the outlines of coverage for each PPACA compliant alternative plan offered to these clients.

They had to pass it so we could learn what was in it. We are so screwed.

In politics, there are lies and then there are lies. We expect lies from politicians.

But this was no ordinary lie.

The duplicity of the president’s lie is only exceeded by its sheer malevolence.

He lied because he didn’t know what garbage insurance companies were selling people! Most of plans that are being cancelled have no hospitalization coverage No testing accept in dr.office if their. No drug allowence most just reduce co-pay for office vists but if you paid cash for vist without insurance it would only $20 to $40 more with out paying for ripp-off insurance! The people paraded on fox and fiends complaining about their junk insurance being cancelled when un bias media looks at their so-called insurnace they find out obama care’s full coverage would be cheeper! Even if the fox white trash like their $20,000 deductable plan as they don’t intend to pay it!

I submit the above screed by the captain as exhibit A in the case to prove Maher’s point, but not the point he thought he was making. It is he and the likes of Capt. A. that revel in their stupidity.

Anyone with an actual brain knew that Obama and his toadies were selling snake oil from the beginning, especially as his claims got more and more outrageous.

“If you like your doctor . . . .” Crack!
“Nobody is changing what you’ve got . . .” Crack!
“I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to the deficit . . .” Crack!
“You want another one” the Prez.
“Yes, sir. I’d like another.” capt. A and company.

The funniest part, for me, is that the fine capt’s ‘defense’ is actually the accepted spin from our fine media and Dem betters.

They’re basically telling people they’re too dim to be trusted to make their own decisions.

That might work with people who identify themselves as Dems (the capt obviously needs someone to take care of him), but that’s a loser for just about everybody else.

Everyone now is clamoring about Affordable Care Act winners and losers. I am one of the losers.

My grievance is not political; all my energies are directed to enjoying life and staying alive, and I have no time for politics. For almost seven years I have fought and survived stage-4 gallbladder cancer, with a five-year survival rate of less than 2% after diagnosis. I am a determined fighter and extremely lucky. But this luck may have just run out: My affordable, lifesaving medical insurance policy has been canceled effective Dec. 31.

My choice is to get coverage through the government health exchange and lose access to my cancer doctors, or pay much more for insurance outside the exchange (the quotes average 40% to 50% more) for the privilege of starting over with an unfamiliar insurance company and impaired benefits.

Obama wasn’t just boasting when he told his aides that “I’m really good at killing people.” As one commenter put it, “If you like your life, you can keep it. Nope. I lied. Again.”

    Capdunce,

You have no contract with government. If the government decides they want to spend the money on something else you have zero recourse.

And companies buying government? I’m shocked.

My answer – make government as small as possible so there is less to buy.
