Who is winning the latest war?

There are those who still think that we should be fighting the war on drugs. I wonder what they think about the war on privacy:

Remember Lavabit and Silent Circle, the encrypted email providers that closed their doors because they faced government pressure to enable government snooping on their customers (Silent Circle still offers other privacy services)? Well, you can add CryptoSeal to the mix. The company has ended its CryptoSeal Privacy virtual private network (VPN) service (it still offers enterprise-lever services), which was advertised as “keeps prying eyes off of your internet usage while you’re at home, in a coffee shop or even another country,” also over concerns about the legal environment and government snooping.

Read it all.

I have a question.

Whose war is this, and what side are we on?

if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear! thats what conservatives have been telling me and the left for 45 years! we do not have a real right to privacy because right to lifers thinks it will protect a womans right to choose. the right has sown the wind to get the social conservatives votes and now you will reap the whirlwind! give them a post natal abortion and maybe you will get your right to privacy back!

captain* arizona has a point – this privacy thing is on both sides.

But, as an adoptee, I’d like to ask – do my birth parents have a right to privacy against me? And, if so, why? Don’t I have a right to know WHY?

(FYI, yes, I’m pro-choice. Live with it.)

The war is over. We lost. Our Glorious Protectors against all evil things imaginable are now slowly assimilating their massive new data base and its streams(and making sure no smoldering embers of resistance reignite).

@ captain – good luck with that. Your lot are basically Catholic. Anti-abortion, pro-intervention.

And you start intervening in one thing, you’re going to start intervening in other things you don’t approve of. And there’s lots of things Catholics don’t approve of. You can start with the Seven Deadly Sins.

    DROP THAT ICE CREAM. That’s gluttony… 😛
