“my new penis had symptoms of rejection”

It’s not every day I read a statement like that in the “news,” but I did. A Belgian’s female-to-male sex change went awfully wrong, and the botched surgery led to euthanasia.

Over the years, I have seen that people who are unhappy with the way they are are seldom made happy by external human agency, whether by scalpel, drugs, or any other means.  That won’t stop them from trying.

(What Obamacare will cover, I don’t know.)

My take is that the family rejection is what hurt him the most. A “new” penis will not fix that.

I read a few articles on this case. It’s a sad sad story of sack of shit “parents” unapologetically rejecting their child because she was a girl and because she “ugly.” Not surprisingly, this child grew up and determined that she was really a “he.” One Belgian authority said that the experts had more or less tried everything, even “six months” of post-operative therapy and the patient still suffered tremendous psychological pain. So what was to be done but to euthanize her? I’m open to the idea that there may very well be people who have a healthy need to identify as a different sex than that with which they were born…but this doesn’t seem to be that kind of case. This woman wasn’t “really” a man and that’s why plastic surgery and hormonal treatment did not cure her problems. I wish I could go back in time and take that doomed unwanted girlchild off their hands.
