A Republic, If We Can Keep It

First they decide Obamacare doesn’t really have to be implemented if the GOP and Democrats agree it doesn’t .  Then they decide they can exempt their staff from its legal requirements.

Congress is  no longer a body of legislators, they’re a council of rulers.

Now, Treasury is getting creative, joining the parade of abuses at ATF, IRS, HHS, DOJ, NSA, EPA… pick three letters, it’s probably an Obama admin agency that abused their power.

This is what the first tattered threads of an unraveling civilization look like.  The horde of thread-pulling rentseekers in the District of Columbia are the greatest extant threat to this country’s liberty and prosperity.

We’re gradually sacrificing rule of law for pragmatism and expedience.   A parade of Western thinkers from Franklin to Hayek warned us that won’t have a pretty end.

You don’t hear those warnings enough anymore.

There is no debt if we don’t acknowledge its existence. Treasury is merely putting postmodern philosophy into practice. An excellent article in the Encyclopedia Britannica sums up the situation:

    1. …reality…is a conceptual construct, an artifact of scientific practice and language.

    2. …there is no such thing as Truth.

    3. …reason and logic—are inherently destructive and oppressive,

    4. reason and logic…are therefore valid only within the established intellectual traditions in which they are used.

    5. …all aspects of human psychology are completely socially determined.

    6. …the meaning of a word is not a static thing in the world or even an idea in the mind but rather a range of contrasts and differences with the meanings of other words.

    7. There is no certainty.

    8. Reality equals conformity and is therefore oppressive.

How can you be certain there even is a national debt? It’s all relative. And besides, debt is oppressive. We don’t have a debt except in the language sense, which is just a social construct.

I see their point. That is why I’ve decided that I don’t have a federal tax debt anymore. It’s just too oppressive.

Simplest hypothesis: They know that they and their parties are over when the economy
crashes, and they are desperately trying to postpone the day, because there will be
    no tomorrow, for them.

This is the key statement: Congress is no longer a body of legislators, they’re a council of rulers.

The only thing missing is that Barry O is leading the charge of destruction of America.

We have already lost the Republic and Barry O and congress are making it worse day by day.

The unraveling of Rome took a long time, so get your popcorn and enjoy the show for what could be a 50-200 year spectacle.

From wiki (what ever that’s worth):
“Many events after 378 worsened the Western empire’s situation. The Battle of Adrianople in 378, the death of Theodosius I in 395 (the last time the Roman Empire was politically unified), the crossing of the Rhine in 406 by Germanic tribes, the execution of Stilicho in 408, the sack of Rome in 410, the death of Constantius III in 421, the death of Aetius in 454, the second sack of Rome in 455, and the death of Majorian in 461 are emphasized by various historians.”

“This is what the first tattered threads of an unraveling civilization look like.”

I disagree (only in that it is the first tattered threads”. This has been building for a long time. After Pelosi and Reid refused to pass a budget because it was “dangerous” to their reelection plans, Obama has been unraveling the checks and balances whenever he feels it is necessary or will get him what he wants.

But, the whole thing started with Wilson and the gained steam under FDR. We can pretty much say that “Progressive” and “liberal” mean “destroy the Republic”.

The real question is how far are they willing to go to keep that power? Martial Law before the collapse? A Bio Weapon designed to kill rural citizens ( livestock based) and a quarantine that allows them for lock down the cities? (Report to the FEMA camp for your immunization (and RFID chip) – desirableness in Building A, Undesirables in Building B) after which, Building A, you will be given your work assignment for the duration of the emergency.

The Question really is how evil are they and how many of us are they willing to Kill? Obama’s good Buddy Ayers was willing to kill Millions to bring about a socialist utopia, so keep that in mind, along with the Billions of Hollow points, the Military Humvees and drones being pre-positioned at your local police dept, all of those “immigration” checkpoints 100s of miles from any border, and each and every regulation they put in place to make it difficult to be self-reliant.

While you’re at it, could you trot on over the Klavin’s piece in which he writes: “Democracy is simply the best method we know of for preserving freedom.”

Maybe you can enlighten him about the meaning of Franklin’s quote:

we couldn’t that is why we had to go to a constitution with amendments like ending slavery you know! since we couldn’t settle the problem in congress or the supreme court we had to take it to a higher court sitting in judgement on the issue. it gave down its decision at cemetery ridge gettysburg pennslyvania july 3 1863!
