Only one question

I’m seeing these headlines:

Two explosions near finish line...
COPS: 2 dead, 23 injured...
'Somebody's leg flew by my head'...
'Like War Zone'...
AFTERMATH FOOTAGE...**WARNING: Graphic**
NY POST: Suspect questioned...
Saudi national under guard at hospital...
CBSNEWS: SAUDI WAS ACTING SUSPICIOUS...
NBCNEWS: 'YOUNG PERSON HERE ON STUDENT VISA'...
Bombs were inside trash cans...
WBZ-TV LIVE...
WRKO-AM...
Official: Cellphone service was shut down..
FAA restricted airspace...
NYPD Deploys 1,000 Additional Officers To Guard Prominent Locations...
Secret Service Shuts Down Pennsylvania Avenue...
UK security review of London Marathon...
Sen. Feinstein: 'It could be foreign, it could be home grown'...
NYT: Possibly 5 Devices...
Families of Newtown were in grandstands during attack...
Jordanian Muslim group: 'Happy to see the horror in America'...
Nuke plants tighten security...

Clearly it’s a terrorist attack.

So, right now I only have one question.

How much freedom are the fuckers going to try to take away this time?

UPDATE: Perhaps I should put what I said in more civilized terms. As we all know, the terrorists have long been at war with our freedom, and they are doing all they can to frighten us into giving it up.

So why is it that so many people (especially in the government) can’t wait to help them?

MORE: What Glenn Reynolds said is important to remember:

Based on past experience, at least half of what you’re hearing about Boston this afternoon will turn out to be wrong by tomorrow.

I saw that with the Sandy Hook school shooting.

However (and much as I hope I am wrong), I think I can safely predict that the people who want to take away freedom will see this as another opportunity to do just that.

UPDATE (4/16/13): According to Fox News (at 12:15 p.m.), they are now saying the bomb was made from a pressure cooker. Googling this, I learned that they are a common IED in India, Pakistan, and of course Aghfanistan. The foiled Fort Hood terrorist Naser Jason Abdo was “making a bomb from a pressure cooker.”

Anyone could do that, unfortunately. A pressure cooker packed with explosives, nails, BBs, etc. would make an ideal IED.

Will this information lead to a crackdown on pressure cookers?

The answer to your question is: As much as they possibly can.

What John S. said. And then they’ll try for more…

The real question is – how much will the people LET them take away in order to FEEL safe (until the next time)? And the likely answer to that one is what scares me.

We do still have the power – we just don’t use it rationally.

And how many educated free spirits will cheer as the freedoms depart?
