Immune System Modulation – Cannabis Science

I want to update this post by mentioning what prompted it:

We are seeing too many cases of people in intensive care dying from an immune system that has turned against them.

Medical Marijuana prohibition is a crime against humanity and a violation of the religious precept – heal the sick.

I like cannabis science. Here are some papers.

The Profile of Immune Modulation by Cannabidiol (CBD) Involves Deregulation of Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cells (NFAT) – NIH no less.

Cannabidiol Reduces Intestinal Inflammation through the Control of Neuroimmune Axis

The Potential Role of Cannabinoids in Modulating Serotonergic Signaling by Their Influence on Tryptophan Metabolism

The diverse CB1 and CB2 receptor pharmacology of three plant cannabinoids: delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol, cannabidiol and delta9-tetrahydrocannabivarin – another NIH

Cannabinoids – Influence on the Immune System and Their Potencial Use in Supplementary Therapy of HIV/AIDS

Lab Now Testing For Pathogens, Cannabinoids; High-CBD Strain Becoming Available to Patients From Medical Genomics – I liked this caption under one of the pictures –> BUDS HIGH IN CANNABIDIOL (CBD) are from “Soma A+” plants grown indoors in San Francisco. Feedback from analytic lab will enable growers to develop strains with various CBD-to-THC ratios by conventional selective breeding methods

Cannabinoids – a general paper

Non-psychotropic plant cannabinoids – William Courtney, MD – Candidate for the United States House of Representatives, 2nd District of California – Political science? Interesting

There are pages more. Search “cbds modulate immune system”.

I said in a comment elsewhere:

Some one should introduce these legislators to science:

CBD Science – HPLC Analysis

Medical Marijuana prohibition is a crime against humanity and a violation of the religious precept – heal the sick.

Pass it on.

It looks like William Courtney, MD beat me to it. In case you hadn’t guessed Dr. Courtney is a Democrat.

One thing – Cannabis (according to studies – I’ve not had direct experience, not having any of the problems the studies addressed) can do so much with so little, you’d think all the medical peeps would be behind it.

Except, sorry, it’s a weed. Can be grown damned near anywhere. Better if it could be grown professionally, strengths of this/that/the other beneficials controlled for (sorry, THC isn’t always the thing that helps.).

But, ain’t gonna happen, is it? Big Pharm doesn’t want it around – too easy to grow – no profit for them in it. And Big Gov makes too damned much money opposing it.

I’m very tempted some days. It would help both my parents. But we’d probably get a swat team (OMG-POT), and it would all be a moot point. Sigh. Plus, I’m too old to even know where to look anymore.

P.S. Yes, like Clinton, I have smoked, unlike him, I inhaled, which made me note that the stuff made me cough my lungs up (which tobacco, oddly, doesn’t) and refrained from the stuff thereafter – except in liquid form – makes a nice tea if you know how to do it. But I quit that a few decades ago too.

On the third hand, 😛 Swat team and moot point would be a relief right now. Or maybe a move to Oregon. Suicide by cop is a well-known phenomenon. I wonder how many elders who smoke pot are after that?

    Kathy,

I don’t know if you saw the videos here:

    http://classicalvalues.com/2013/02/cbd-science-hplc-analysis/

But they are very informative on the various strains and their different effects. Private citizens are way ahead of the medical establishment.

Not unexpected. Sigh. Thanks for the link.
