“God loves sperm more than women”

Amanda Marcotte seems to think that Christianity is immoral because, well, according to her, some Republicans think women who have been raped should not be forced to carry to term babies fathered by their rapists:

Any religion that teaches that women are obligated to let any random man who wishes forcibly impregnate them is an immoral religion. This sort of thing is why I’m not just a quiet atheist but an outspoken critic of religion. While not all religious beliefs are immoral, the problem is that religion is so easily used to dress up deeply evil belief in the garments of morality, and pass these beliefs off is if they were good simply because they claim to be holy. The notion that God loves sperm more than women, and therefore a raped woman is obligated by her faith to refuse to suppress her ovulation after a rape so that the sperm has a shot at impregnating her? Evil.

I’ve never seen anything in the Bible to the effect that God loves sperm more than women, but Ms. Marcotte (who btw has called me a sociopath) imputes this belief to religious people, and from them to Republicans in general.

…conservative men … are furious about feminism, and … believe that women should be returned to a subservient role. You know, like the idealized 50s, where you could cheat on your wife and she couldn’t leave you, and threaten your mistresses with social ruin to make sure they took you up on your offer to get them to doctor who would chart that abortion as relief for your menstrual issues. Hypocrisy is entertaining, but the real story here is the deeply held conviction that women exist to serve men and shouldn’t really have rights of their own.

What about those who have a deeply held conviction that men exist to serve women and shouldn’t really have rights of their own?

Does one “deeply held conviction” deserve another?

MORE: Not to be filthy or irreverent, but for the sake of argument, if it is in fact true that “God loves sperm more than women,” then what are the implications for many gay men?

I love it when somebody who has never read the Bible explains to me what I believe. Thanks Amanda.

Oh Eric, you really aren’t required to read anything she writes. Remember her short shift at the Edwards campaign? Any person, especially a woman who supports lying serial cheats is by definition excluded from serious consideration as a chronicler of the American female condition.
Her cohort over at the Progg Left are prepared to trample any Flowers, Lewinsky or Hunter who interferes with the narrative.
It’s the Fem version of the race card.
    Ugh. Forget her.

My Wife and I are a “traditional” couple, I work(ed), she raised our kids, took care of the home, bills etc. until they grew up, then she got a job.
A few days ago I looked around my house and realized, “everything I see I paid for, all of it, but She actually bought it, picked it out, and spent my money to make it happen” But that’s the way WE like it, She is free as she want’s to be and so am I, WTF is wrong with that?
    24 years and counting, Bob

It’s sometimes entertaining to read her stuff – for short periods. Her descriptions of the hallucinogenic world she inhabits are of particular interest.

Her writing is so full of strawmen that she’s a fire hazard.

Excuse me? Exactly how is there a problem with: “Any religion that teaches that women are obligated to let any random man who wishes forcibly impregnate them is an immoral religion.”?

Because, if a woman (or female post pubescent child) who is raped is forced to carry the child to term, she’s right. Sorry. There I stop agreeing with the right. And I go right back to I’d take Obama over Keyes. Even now.

And just what religion IS that?

Outside of whatever insane group is living rent-free in Marcottes’ head, that is.
