How low does it get?

First came the apologies.

And now comes the censorship:

Obama administration officials said Thursday that they have asked YouTube to review the video [that reportedly set off the embassy attacks] and determine whether it violates the site’s terms of service, according to people close to the situation but not authorized to comment.

I agree 200% with Jesse Walker’s assessment:

The primary reason to be appalled: The government has no business pressuring a website to take down this video.

There appears to be no limit on this administration’s shamelessness, nor on the failure of the media to do its job.

Not that it’s relevant to the attempt at censorship, but it’s becoming clear that the video was a pretext for the attacks, which many analysts consider to have been pre-planned.

Which leads to the question of whether this latest foot-in-the-door attempt censorship was also pre-planned… or at least waiting in the wings for any opportunity.

I can’t think of a better reason to vote against Obama than this.

MORE: Glenn Reynolds links this from Ann Althouse:

“Thanks to Google, a corporation, with stronger free-speech values than the United States government is willing to support.”

I don’t mean to praise Google’s values, but I have to.

Does shameful irony matter?

MORE: I like what Ace says:

If we’re going to have anti-blasphemy laws, I want them official and passed by Congress and reviewed by the courts. I don’t want this executive-only implementation of a despicable law.

This is beyond outrageous. I would only add that if you don’t want anti-blasphemy laws, by all means vote for Romney.

AND MORE: Google stands fast against the White House attempt at censorship.

Google rejects White House request to pull Mohammad film clip.

Good for Google.

MORE: Not only did they try to censor the film, but they dragged the filmmaker away in a midnight raid.

WHY BARACK OBAMA SHOULD RESIGN. Just for the record, this is what it looked like for a man who made a film that made the Obama Administration uncomfortable:

Here’s the key bit: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.”

This is the United States?

I agree with Glenn that Barak Obama should resign.

With his utter contempt for the First Amendment, he has violated the Constitution, and of course his oath of office.

Do such things mean anything anymore?
