My opinion? Jindal is the only pick that makes sense.
Jindal adds excitement for the base, makes this an uber-competence ticket, and makes the ticket multiethnic, which may not matter to you and I but will have an effect on the MSM (remember how “historic” Obama’s candidacy was?). Portman and Pawlenty add nothing, they’re boring and they have little effect even on their home states. Ryan also excites the base but adds a certain vulnerability on his budget. Also, governors always run better in Presidential races.

What about Rubio? If we’re going to talk about an ethnic boost as one criterion in making a VP pick, the ‘Pubs do need to repair their standing among Hispanics, who would probably not be particularly impressed with a Jindal pick.
It will be Rand Paul. I will explain why in my next post coming up shortly.
I’ll be looking forward to reading that posting, Simon. Meanwhile, DAVE, there’s this problem that Mr. Jindal might not be eligible to be POTUS because of the not-yet-naturalized-state (is that the right word?) of his parents when he was born. Of course, that’s an issue that only afflicts Republicans, but he is one, so the bleating would be non-stop after his placement on the ticket.
beej,
Here ya go:

You don’t pick a VP to attract your strongest supporters. You pick one to hold your weakest supporters.
Why McCain Picked Palin
handworn — Rubio’s not a bad pick, but it might be a bit early in his political career, Jindal has executive experience, and the GOP might lose the FL seat.
beej — I say let them run with that one.
You can’t have him, we (Louisianians) aren’t done with him yet.
Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He’s as American as I am.
