I always found the LaF to be way overrated, maybe just because it seems overly trendy.
OTOH, that little scene where Duncan tells himself “Pain is merely a function of the nerves” before slicing open his wrist — that sentence has a palpable physiological effect on me — I can feel my blood pressure drop.
