Left And Right

The leftys tell us that if gun ownership is ubiquitous, the levels of gun violence will rise. It does not. It goes down.

The rightys tell us that if drugs are ubiquitous, the levels of addiction will rise. It does not. It goes down.

Both sides seem to have the same mental illness. Just about different things.

Hmmmm………….

Spot on, as the Brits would say. Unfortunately, the Libertarians (the only ones that get both of the above right), have their own mental illness. “If we ignore all those countries out there, they’ll go away”. That doesn’t work either.

Could we start a sanity party or something?
I think Den Beste proprosed an “Engineer’s Party” some years back. Motto was something like “Do what works.” I could live with that.

The post and the first comment are why I am one of the many dissatisfied small “l” libertarians.

The Democratic Party is beyond redemption. The Libertarian Party seems to revel in its role as self-righteous losers. I keep hoping in vain that the GOP will fix itself.

This is rather a false equivalency. Democrats seek expanded state control over just about _every_ aspect of life. Who you have sex with and what drugs you take are pretty much the _only_ things they don’t seek to regulate and dictate. Given that distinction, to say “they’re both just as bad” is disingenuous.

And of course the Republicans are different. They want to control everything the Democrats don’t.

Which leaves citizens with what exactly?

What you don’t get is that they are the two arms of one party. The Statist Party.

Ever notice hat no matter which side is in they never repeal the work of the other side?
